Pottersville, NY - The Mustangs kicked off their NY/VT road trip in dominant fashion Tuesday night, rolling past the Huskies of Word of Life 98–49 in Pottersville, NY. The highlight of the night came from sophomore guard Hunter Hartsgrove, who rewrote the program's record books with a blistering 15 made three-pointers, surpassing the previous single-game record of 13 set by Tiffany Seames. Hartsgrove tallied 45 points in just 25 minutes of action.
Breanna Dwyer remained a model of consistency, scoring in double figures for the eighth straight game. She finished with 16 points and added six steals in only 16 minutes, showcasing her two-way impact once again. Gabbie Tibbetts provided a well-rounded performance off the bench, contributing 9 points, 4 rebounds, and a game-high 5 assists.
Despite the lopsided scoreline, the Mustangs struggled with ball security and didn't shoot the ball particularly well coming off the six-hour bus ride.
According to Head Coach, Andrew Morong, "Hunter's performance tonight was one of the most impressive shooting displays I've seen at any level. She was locked in from the moment she stepped on the floor. That said, as a team, we didn't approach this game with the sharpness and discipline we expect. We can't let the scoreboard hide areas where we need to be better."
The road trip continues as CMCC travels to Albany, NY to face the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy on Wednesday in another key Yankee Conference matchup.
