Balanced Attack Lifts Mustangs to 83–39 Victory Over Berkeley College

Auburn, ME — The CMCC Women's Basketball team continued its dominant start to the 2025–26 campaign, improving to 6-0 with a commanding 83–39 win over Berkeley College on Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs showcased their depth and unselfish play in front of their home crowd, getting all 15 available players into the action—14 of whom found the scoring column. It was a full-team performance fueled by relentless pace, active defense, and sharp ball movement.

Hunter Hartsgrove (Patten, ME) led all scorers with 15 points, while Caitlyn McCoy (Greene, ME) chipped in 12 points, knocking down four three-pointers. First-year forward Anais Balla Zambo (Fribourg, Switzerland) continued her recent surge with 10 points, her second straight game in double figures.

Ava Smith (Casco, ME) and Cassie Ririnui (Tauranga, New Zealand) each flirted with double-doubles, finishing with 8 points and 7 rebounds apiece. The Mustangs dominated the glass, holding a +19 rebounding margin, and assisted on 28 of their made field goals.

Head Coach, Andrew Morong, was pleased with the team's versatility but noted there's still room to tighten things up. "Our depth is one of our greatest strengths and we're seeing that show up in a lot of ways. That said, we're still committing too many unforced errors. If we want to be the team we believe we can be, that has to change."

On the defensive end, CMCC kept Berkeley College in check throughout, holding them to under 40 points. Anastasia Davis and Arianna Wilder led the Knights with 8 points each.

The Mustangs will look to keep their unbeaten streak alive with a home doubleheader this coming weekend. They host Holyoke Community College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Sunday noon tip-off against Albany College of Pharmacy.
