Auburn, ME – Former CMCC Women's Basketball player Emily Strachan announced on Tuesday she is transferring to Fordham University (NCAA DI) in New York to continue her college basketball career. The Lewiston, ME native played two outstanding seasons with the Mustangs from 2021-23, racking up back-to-back USCAA and WBCA All-American honors, winning two straight YSCC Tournaments, and winning the 2022 USCAA National Championship. Strachan then transferred to NCAA DI Cal State Fullerton and played two years for the Titans from 2023-25, starting 24 of 29 games as a senior and averaging 5.5 points per game.
The Lewiston Blue Devils product made an immediate impact at Central Maine her freshman year, following in her mother Jamie's footsteps, who was a captain of the inaugural Mustangs women's team in 1998. Strachan averaged 21.5 points per game as CMCC marched to a 28-3 overall record. The season finished on a high with a 63-35 victory over Penn State Schuylkill to claim the USCAA DII National Championship, the third national title in program history.
In her sophomore campaign, Strachan continued to impress with 21.1 ppg to finish her career with 678 points over two seasons. She once again picked up 1st-Team All-Conference, USCAA 1st-Team All-American, and WBCA All-American honors. The Mustangs clinched yet another YSCC Tournament victory with a 66-48 win over rival SMCC and advanced to the USCAA National Tournament.
At Cal State Fullerton, Strachan immediately saw time on the court as a junior, playing in 28 of 31 games and averaging 8.4 minutes per contest off the bench. She cemented herself in the starting lineup as a senior, scoring a season-high 24 points against Cal State Northridge in a 65-61 victory.
Strachan joins up with a Fordham team that she lost to on the road early in the 2024-25 season. The Rams went on to finish the year 15-15 overall and were eliminated in the first round of the Atlantic 10 conference tournament. The program is three seasons removed from an appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
