Garza Named to Scholastic Esports Awards Voting Committee

Auburn, ME – Central Maine Community College Esports Coordinator Andrew Garza has been named to the Scholastic Esports Awards Collegiate Voting Committee. SEA will hand out awards such as "Director of the Year" and "Program of the Year" at their event in January, honoring the top Esports teams and gamers across schools in North America.

"It is an honor to represent the two-year universities on a continental scale," said Garza. "To be entrusted enough in the collegiate esports community is a privilege a 23-year-old can only dream of. I look forward to positively contributing to the growth of collegiate esports and recognizing the talent and prowess of esports collegiately."

Garza is one of just 11 members of the college voting committee selected from across the esports community. They will determine who receives awards in 13 different categories for their achievements during the 2024 year at the Scholastic Esports Awards ceremony in Columbus, OH from January 11-12th.

Other members of the committee include Travis Yang (Syracuse University), Catherine Hebert (Emerson College), Diane LaPierre (Ole Miss Esports), Sean Shannon (Illinois Wesleyan University), Sheldon Williams (Winthrop University), Sophia Priest (UNC Greensboro), Noah Antor (Davenport University), Braiden McNay (Northwood University), Julian Waddell (Oakwood University), and Jacob Kaplan (Full Sail University).
