Orlando, FL - With the conclusion of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) at Full Sail University, Central Maine Community College's (CMCC) very own Esports Coordinator, Andrew Garza, was recognized as a finalist for the Call of Duty National Coach of the Year. Coach Garza was nominated for this award due to his time prior at Cumberland University, where over the last year, his team won the NACE Varsity Plus National Championship, two top 4 placements in Varsity Premier Playoffs, and qualification for the first ever season of the NACE Super Conference.
In a response to the recognition, Coach Garza expressed his gratitude, "I really appreciated my time at Cumberland University and the opportunity they gave me has allowed me to climb the totem pole in collegiate esports. The expertise of Spencer Claypool and Max Wood over at Cumberland has led me to the Esports Coordinator position here at CMCC and I couldn't be more appreciative for the opportunity from both Cumberland and CMCC. I look forward to replicating the success and pushing the barrier further at CMCC."
