CM is pleased to announce that Alexandria Rowe and Courtney Taylor have committed to play women's basketball for the Lady Mustangs next season.
Alex Rowe of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School (South Paris, ME) was a forward this past season for the Vikings. Alex was a KVAC-South 2nd Team All-Star, and was awarded the Team Coaches Award by Coach Nate Pelletier.
Several factors influenced Alex's decision to attend CM…
"I loved the campus, it was not too big, but just the right size. I also thought the atmosphere at the basketball games was great," she said. "I was able to watch them play this year and it always looked like they knew how to balance having fun all while being extremely competitive and winning."
Alex on playing at the next level…
"Overall, I think things will be more intense and extremely competitive – and I know they play at a really fast pace. I played four years of varsity basketball, and I always worked hard and gave 100% of my effort all of the time. I think I will be able to do what is asked of me with a positive attitude."
Courtney Taylor of Madison Area Memorial High School (Madison, ME) was a 6'0" Forward this season for the Bulldogs, who made it all the way to the Western Maine Class C Regional Final. Courtney will also be playing women's soccer at CM.
Courtney chose CM because…
"The location and size of the campus were ideal. The atmosphere of the campus is so strong and everyone is so supportive of each other. I was able to attend a couple of games and stay for an overnight with the team and they all seemed to be so close, like a family," she said. "When trying to make my decision I could not picture myself attending any other school, I could not picture myself playing for any other team. I am excited to become a part of this family and be a Lady Mustang."
Courtney on playing at the next level…
"The game from high school to college changes a lot. It is faster and much more aggressive. I believe I am ready to step up to the next level in my basketball career and I am willing to push myself to make an impact at the college level."
Comments from women's basketball coach, Andrew Morong…
"Both Alex and Courtney will help bolster our front court. They both bring size and strength in an area that we really need it. Both of them have played at high level programs during their high school careers, so they are used to high expectations and winning under pressure," he said. "Both of these women have a strong presence and personality about them, and they should really flourish, on and off the court, during their time at CM."
