UMaine-Fort Kent scrapped their way to a hard fought victory over the Lady Mustangs. Leading by 1 at the half, CM built an early 2nd half lead with strong play from point guard, Nohemy Aguila (11 points). The lead could not hold, as the hard-working Bengals of UMFK forced several key turnovers to take the lead over for good. UMFK sophomore, Ericka Christensen played solid in the post scoring 15 points and pulldown a game high 17 rebounds. Taylor Boucher netted 17 points for the Bengals, while Jenn Colpitts came off the bench to drop in 18 points. Early 2nd half foul trouble for the Mustangs forced UMFK to the foul line early and often - sinking 23 of 29 FT attempts in the 2nd half.
Maggie Sabine had stretched of dominance, finishing with a game high 26 points and 10 rebounds. Susie French hit 4 3's and finished with 25 points.
The Lady Mustangs drop to 5-2 on the year and are scheduled for an exhibition game @ Maine Maritime Academy tomorrow evening. UMFK improves to 1-0 on the season.
