We are pleased to announce Colton Bivighouse, a 6'6" forward from Katahdin High School, has committed to play for the Mustangs next year. Colton brings excellent credentials to the college. A four year varsity basketball starter averaging 25 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists per game, Colton was named to the Maine McDonald's, All-Aroostook County and Penobscot Valley Conference all-star teams. He is also a 1000 point scorer and won the 2013 Maine State Foul Shooting title. A member of student council, Colton has been on the honor roll, won academic awards in Technology and Physical Education, and received the "Student of the Quarter" award.
According to Colton several factors led him to select CM. "After visiting the campus and meeting the people in the Criminal Justice Program I felt was a great fit. Their Criminal Justice Program has a great reputation, has lots of connections throughout the state, and has high-tech training simulators."
"Their 35 game basketball schedule was another big thing, as is the opportunity to play right away, and playing schools from all over New England. Another important thing is that the school and Coach Gonyea help find the best college transfer opportunities after graduating from CM."
To say Coach Gonyea is happy is an understatement. Gonyea says, "Colton is the kind of person you build your program around. Not only is he a great player, but the kind of person I want around as a positive role model in our college community. I think he will make his mark here and people will remember him like so many of our previous players. We don't recruit lists of players each year. We tend to target between 8-12 players and focus our efforts on them. Colton was the top of that list!"
