Mustangs Record Fifth Straight Shutout, Beat UConn 7-0

Bolton, CT – CMCC Men's Ice Hockey continued its dominating stretch of play with a 7-0 win on the road against UConn at the Bolton Ice Palace. Six different players scored, Aaron Higgins had two goals and an assist, and goaltender Isaac White picked up his third win of the season with a 25-save shutout. The Mustangs have now gone five games in a row without allowing a goal.

Central Maine took a 2-0 lead in the first period. Dylan Blue scored a powerplay goal at the 8:01 mark with a setup from alternate captains Higgins and Michael Belleau. Blue then had the helper on defenseman Braeden Gagnon's tally with 1:40 left in the frame.

Gavin Pellerin made it 3-0 with his fourth goal of the season, just before the midway point of the hockey game. Higgins found the back of the net two minutes later, and Heath McLean scored on a power play of his own at the 12:13 mark, both assisted by Sam Foley.

The Mustangs added two more tallies very late in the game. Foley picked up a third helper on Higgins' second of the contest with 1:18 left on the clock. That gave Higgins his fourth multi-goal game of the campaign. The Falmouth, ME native has recorded at least one point in every game this season. Owen Denbow then picked up his first collegiate tally on a late power play, scoring with 40 seconds remaining on assists from Will Galligan and Emmit Sullivan.

White made 12 saves in the first period to stymie the Huskies early attempts. The junior from Westbrook, ME stopped eight shots in the second and five in the third to claim his first shutout of the season and second of his career.

CMCC closes out its three-in-three weekend against another NECHA Colonial South team on Sunday, with a visit to Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
