St. Louis, MO – CMCC Men's Ice Hockey will play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association national tournament for the third straight year after securing a bid to the 16-team tournament held in St. Louis, MO. The Mustangs will be the #6 seed, playing in pool C in group play starting on Wednesday, March 18th against #11 seed Sacred Heart University.
CMCC enters the ACHA DIII national championships with a 21-4-0 record after a fantastic season that saw them go 10-0-0 in NorthEast Collegiate Hockey Association Colonial North division play and spend most of the campaign ranked nationally in the top ten. Central Maine will be joined by fellow NECHA member Wentworth Institute of Technology after the Leopards claimed the NECHA Tournament's automatic qualifier after upsetting the Mustangs in the semifinals.

It is the Mustangs highest ranking at the national championships having previously been the #12 seed in both the 2024 and 2025 editions. Only one team advances from each of four groups to the national semifinals.
Men's Ice Hockey has made strides at ACHA nationals. In their first trip, the underdog Mustangs fell by just one goal to #4 Air Force in their opening match before being bested by #5 Missouri 6-3. They continued to put up a good fight against #13 Michigan State, holding the Spartans to a 2-2 tie. Last year, the team picked up its first two victories on the national stage, a 5-4 overtime win against #5 Colby College and a 5-2 win vs #13 Colorado School of Mines. However, CMCC was thumped by #4 Oakland University 11-0, keeping them from advancing out of group play.
Head coach Jordy Knoren and company will depart for St. Louis on Monday, March 16th looking to build on their experience and reach the frozen four for the first time in school history.
