Women's Basketball races past by Berkeley (NY)

Auburn, ME - Playing their 3rd game in 3 days, the Lady Mustangs relied on constant subbing for fresh legs, as they raced past the Knights of Berkeley College (NY), 91-46.  Racing out to 25-11 lead in the first quarter, CM stalled a bit in the 2nd, playing even with the Knights, 13-13 in the quarter, to take a 38-24 lead into the break.  The Lady Mustangs responded to their sluggish 2nd quarter by logging 29 points in the 3rd, and 24 in the 4th.

Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) played like the All-American she is, finishing with a team-high 21 points shile shooting 10-13 from the floor (77%).  Reynolds also recorded 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks.  Kristina Blais (Lewiston, ME) scored in dougle-figures for the 2nd stright game, hitting for 13 points while dishing out 6 assists.  Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME) scored 16 points off the bench while hitting four 3's.

Ayana Ratliff scored a game-high 33 points on 13-34 shooting.

The Lady Mustangs destroyed the Knights on the boards, out-rebounding Berkeley 60-31, including 26 on the offensive end.  CM also sniped 19 steals and dished out 25 assists.

Head Coach, Andrew Morong, on the win, "Outside of the second quarter, I was very pleased with our effort and execution.  We knew we wanted to get into their bench, and wear them out, and our women did a great job pushing the tempo while making them work on offense.  Kristina did a great job facilitating, while also looking for her shot, and our bigs did a great job challenging shots and cleaning up the glass.  We knew Ratliff was going to score, she is one of the leading scorers in the entire USCAA, and in the first half we made her shoot a lot of fade-away jumpers.  We weren't quite as disciplined in the second half, but we completely shut down their other options.  To win a title, you have to win three games in three days, so this was a great tuneup for us as we prepare for the final stretch over the next couple of weeks."

With the win CM improves to 17-1 on the year.  They will be back in action next weekend for a New York double-header.  They play Villa Maria on Saturday at Sage College in Albany, then play Albany College of Pharmacy on Sunday.
