Auburn, ME – Mustangs Esports wrapped up its 2025 fall semester of competition, with 55 gamers making up teams across 11 titles. While there weren't any championships to bring home this semester, the rebuilding esports program still had some noteworthy performances.
Rocket League had the most successful run, reaching the quarterfinals of ECAC Division D. They ended up forming one large team of six rather than splitting into two groups. The squad of captain Morgan "Papimorg" Waltz, Ben "benhuman" Krebs, Austin "BlxckWxlf" Henschel, Clarke "HasturXastur" Hughes, Maing "UrAbsent0" Tang, and Lucas "Fatfluffydude" Bragdon claimed the #3 seed for the playoffs after posting a 6-1 regular season record. CMCC had a closely fought quarterfinal against Louisiana Tech. The Mustangs took the first three games of the best-of-seven by one goal, but the Bulldogs stormed back to take the last four to complete a reverse sweep.
In Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Central Maine entered two squads with the "A" team, made up of Jade "PolestarAE" Fortenbacker, Sebastian "kickrun" Brochu, Joshua "Football_44" Parenteau, and Justice "Icenado" Allard, posting a 3-4 overall record in ECAC Division B play, just missing out on the playoffs.
The "B" team entered Division D and earned a postseason berth as the #10 seed after going 4-2 in the regular season. The squad of Garrett "orkiwan Kenobi" Davis, Timothy "Leedle572" Cutting, Dakota ".wiffleman" Genthner, Riley "abyssalvirus74" Hammer, and Peter "shadow974the1st" Parent were defeated in the first round by Oklahoma Christian University.

The team of Jamie "aaron_2424" Cole, Tristan "tristan_im_tired" Bannister, Chloe "ThatLoveySimp" Frank, Lucian "_wh1t3" Walker, Nolan "Galaxy Kid" Kay, Leticionna "Snowsheesh_" Dalton, and Clarke "hasturkaiwan" Hughes went 5-2 but missed out on a first round bye as the #10 seed. They were eliminated by Trine University.
League of Legends returned this fall. Jacob "prolify" Auger, Aiden "icyzaul" Poitras, Luisa "Luis032705" Serrano, Reid "silkyostrich" Maxim, Justin "ZUD0" Chavez, and Jaden "JADENISBOSS" Stone missed out on the playoffs with a 1-6 campaign.
Silkyostrich represented the program in Teamfight Tactics, posting a best individual week score of fifth, but ended the year in 21st position, outside of the playoff spots.
Fortnite ended its season in open competition in 80th place out of 180 schools but missed out on the top 75 cut-off for postseason. Clarke "hasturkaiwan" Hughes, Brannon "ufyufyxcuf" and Dakota ".wiffleman" Genthner still had a good showing for a title that had not been represented by Mustangs Esports in several years.
Marvel Rivals was a new entry to the program, as this was the first year it was offered by the ECAC. Their roster of Andrew "nxjang" Bishop, Aiden "ignatios_x20" Bussiere, Leticionna "Snowsheesh_" Dalton, Peter "shadow974the1st" Parent, Dakota ".wiffleman" Genthner, Ismaiil "Clutchokami" Hassan, and Piper "immortalfern" Selkow failed to qualify for the playoffs after a 1-7 season. However, there were some bright spots with Hassan reaching top 10 in the entirety of North America during the semester.
There were three individual entries in sports titles. EA FC 26 saw Fabrice "whoisfabii" Mvula round out his time at Central Maine Community College with a 5-2 overall record in the fall semester. The junior made the postseason but was eliminated by the University of Southern Maine in the Round of 32.
NBA 2K26 was a new entry this season for the Mustangs. Matthew "Xpectid" Stubenrod ended up 4-3 to make the playoffs but was knocked out in the round of 32 by Kean University.
Brandon "Panicpain" Winchester represented the program in MLB The Show 25. His 3-4 regular season record just missed out on a playoff spot.
Lastly, a revamped Call of Duty team entered ECAC Open Division play. Miya "McShawty5" Fickett-Cote, Chloe "ThatLoveySimp" Frank, Ihzayah "MTCZay" Marcellus, Dakota "LordWiffle" Genthner, and Izzy "Izzy067185" Simpson finished 3-2 in the eight-team conference. They were eliminated by Keuka College in the first round.
The teams will return to competition in the spring semester, with upcoming tryouts to set the rosters for 2026.
