Bridgton, ME – CMCC started fast with two runs in the top of the first, but was held scoreless the rest of the way, as baseball dropped a seven-inning contest on the road against Bridgton Academy 5-2.

The Mustangs led things off with the first three batters reaching successfully. Hayden Durrell hit a line drive to left field that brought in Brandon Gour, and Garren Post scored on a double steal to make it a 2-0 lead. However, the team got only two hits the rest of the way.

The Wolverines responded by pulling one run back in the bottom half of the inning on a wild pitch, before tying the game in the third and taking the lead in the fourth. Wesley Alfonso tied things on a hard ground ball between third and short. Dakota Harriman produced what turned out to be the winning run with a line drive into left.

Two more runs came across in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-2. Edgar Real scored on a ground ball back to the mound and Emmitt Hatch came home on a grounder up the first base line.

On the mound Owen Scott went six strong innings for the Mustangs in a complete game performance. The first-year out of Edward Little High School allowed just five hits, while striking out two and walking three. Anders Lowkes got the win for Bridgton Academy, pitching the first five innings before Cam Norton closed things out.

"Owen Scott threw a gem for us," said head coach Ryan Palmer. "He kept us in it going into the sixth. We were missing four starters today, but just didn't produce enough hits after the first inning."

CMCC has two weekend doubleheaders left on its fall ball schedule. The Mustangs head to Waterville on Saturday to take on Thomas College in a pair of games. Then on October 12^th, Central Maine welcomes in Quincy College for a pair of games on its home field.
