Mustangs wear down Seawolves

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME - Teira Durgin scored a team-high 14 points and hit four foul shots in the final 30 seconds to lead Central Maine Community College in a 60-55 Yankee Conference victory over intrastate rival Southern Maine Community College on Tuesday.

It was the fifth consecutive win for the Mustangs (6-2), who are now 6-0 in Conference play.

The Mustangs built a nine-point advantage at the break and saw the Seawolves (4-5) fight back to within a point with 30 seconds remaining in regulation. Durgin was fouled, sank both shots and put the Mustangs up by three.

With the Seawolves attempting to set up a potential game-tying shot, Durgin stole the ball, drew another foul and swished both chances to seal the win.

The Mustangs' Sara Martin hit double figures for the eight straight game with 11 points while Danielle Hebert and Kayla Ellis added nine apiece. Tiffany Lougee registered seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Rachel Del Camp paced the Seawolves offense with 20 points and Amanda Chandler added 12.
