Brett Turenne enters his fifth season as assistant coach of the Mustangs in 2025-26. The South Portland, ME native helped the team claim the YSCC Tournament championship in 2025 and pick up the program’s first victory at the USCAA Small College World Series held in DuBois, PA. His duties include coaching first base, defensive strategy, and recruiting.

Before his time at CMCC, Turenne spent one season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, SMCC, in the 2019-20 season, coaching third base and focusing on infield/outfield strategy and recruiting. Prior to joining the college ranks, he coached high school for eight years at Bonny Eagle and Windham and worked with the Eagles middle school program. His primary focus was on players’ defensive development. At the Babe Ruth level, Turenne has coached teams to state titles and made one appearance at the regional tournament.

A graduate from South Portland High School in 1992, Turenne was a member of both the Red Riots baseball and swim teams and served as a captain of both during his senior year. He attended SMCC where he played on the baseball team for one season in 1994 as an outfielder and relief pitcher, with a .313 batting average.

Coach Turenne resides in Windham with his fiancé and two sons and works as an independent contractor.
