Auburn, ME - Oak Hill High School defender Cassie Gauthier has committed to play soccer for the Central Maine Mustangs. Cassie has been a three-year varsity player at Oak Hill and will be a good addition to what is already a solid Mustang defense.
Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, commented, "I am really glad to have Cassie on board because Oak Hill players tend to be very versatile in where they can play and their skill sets are adaptable to different positions and different playing styles. That's important for us because we constantly switch in and out of a number of different formations and playing styles so our players have to learn them all."
Oak Hill High School coach, Jeremy Young, said, "Cassie has the ability to play multiple defensive positions. She reads the ball well and is able to spring an attack from the back. She excels in big games and big moments. Her positive attitude and willingness to work hard for her teammates have served both her and Oak Hill High School well."
After visiting the campus Cassie said, "I chose CM because I have heard a lot of amazing things about the school and everyone who goes there has an amazing time. I had a tour of the school and I just fell in love with it. People were friendly and it was such a warm environment. One of the things I like the most is the diversity of the school and how much they show it." When asked about making the transition from high school to college soccer Cassie mentioned, "It will be more intense but also more fun. It is going to be an amazing experience and I can't wait for it. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and just having an awesome time playing for this team."
Cassie will begin studying in the General Studies program with a goal of getting admitted to the nursing program.
