Auburn, ME – CM Athletic Director, Dave Gonyea, is pleased to announce the hiring or Laura Soohey as the Head Softball Coach.  Soohey will take over immediately and finish the recruiting for the 1617 school year as she takes over the rebuilding process for the softball program.

Soohey played Women's Basketball and Softball at CM before graduating in 2014 with High Honors.  While in the Mustang basketball uniform Soohey was named 1st Team All-Conference, and 1st Team All-American, and earned Academic All-Conference and Academic All-American Honors in with basketball and softball.  After completing her graduation requirements at CM, Soohey earned a basketball scholarship to play at Rochester College (MI) where she just wrapped up her last semester.  She also earned Academic All-American honors while at RC.  In high school, Soohey was a 4-year varsity softball player for Lincoln Academy where she earned KVAC 2nd Team All-Conference honors.

According to Gonyea, "We are thrilled that Laura is joining us as a coach.  During her time here as a student-athlete she showed tremendous growth both on and off the court and field.  Laura is a CM girl through and through, and her hard work, determination, and ability to relate to other student-athletes will help us bring our softball program to a new level."

Soohey on joining the CM coaching staff, "I'm very excited to be back at CM and give back to a school that has given me so many opportunities. With taking this title I not only want to coach but  be a mentor to these female athletes. I want them to succeed on and off the field. With a group of young women who are willing to put the work and time into the team, I believe we will build a successful program to add to CM athletics."
