Concord, NH - Despite leading 33-26 at the break, the Mustangs could not hang on and fall to 3rd Seed Vermont Technical College Knights 69-58.
The Knights had a difficult time navigating the CM 3-2 zone defense in the first half, CM shot 46% from the field and held the Knights to 42% clip. However the game was 40 minutes long and the Knights came out in the second half and hit key shots. The Mustangs struggled from the field shooting a mere 22% in the second half. Titus Smith and Connor Miller each hit key shots down the stretch to give Vermont a 7-point lead in the scond half. A Mustang rally fell short and Vermont advances to the Yankee Conference Final against NHTI. Corey David led the Mustangs with 11 pts, 5 rebs and 2 assists, Josh Chery also added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Sharpshooters Elijah Barbour and Akeem Laurie were held scoreless in the contest. CM finishes the year off at 19-6.
According to Coach Dave Gonyea "This is as fine of group to coach as any group as I have ever had, and I would rather lose with these kids than win with kids without character."
