Auburn, ME – Despite turning the ball over numerous times, the Mustangs escaped Kirk Hall with a 79-73 win over the College of St Joe's today.
The first half was a back and forth affair with CM using 13 players in attempt to wear down the visiting Fighting Saints. Full court pressure was the norm with ball pressure the focus. The boys went to the locker room at the half with a 35-34 advantage.
The Mustangs took an early lead in the second half with a 11-4 run. The Fighting Saints would not go away. With the second half a back and forth affair, they cut the lead to three in the remaining four minutes but couldn't keep pace.
Cody Tozier played his best game of the semester today hitting for 8 points with 6 rebounds; however, it was Cody working hard on defense that was a difference.
Josh Chery dominated the paint again hitting for 18 points on a 7-14 shooting day and added 8 rebounds.
The win increases the Mustangs record to 17-3 the season.
CM hosts rival SMCC Wednesday at 8pm at Kirk Hall.
